Gulf of Guinea
A monthly baseline for methane seeps
Twelve months of repeat surveys over natural gas seeps, logging plume height and seabed change to the same five centimetres.

01
The challenge
Natural seeps change slowly, and single surveys cannot show a trend. The consortium needed the same sites measured the same way every month.
02
How we flew it
A K6 based at a Lantern dock flew the same 14 sites each month, logging acoustic plume height and repeat bathymetry at fixed waypoints.
03
What we found
A year of data showed three seeps growing and one going quiet, with seabed collapse at one site measured at 38 cm.
