The challenge
Anchor strikes are the main risk to subsea power cables. The grid operator needed to know where the cable had lost its burial cover along 118 km of busy shipping lane.

How we flew it
K6 carried a cable tracker alongside the multibeam and flew the route in three legs, surfacing between them to report.

What we found
The survey found 2.1 km of cable with less than 0.5 m cover, in four sections, all close to an anchorage. Re-burial was scheduled for the next season.
